Dato’ Steve Yap (54) is a practising Nutritional Therapist & Anti-Aging Health Therapist.
He received training in nutritional therapy at The Plaskett Nutritional Medicine College, England and is a UK-registered nutritional therapist. Steve’s interest in health and nutrition dates back to 1978 when he was employed by The City of London Area Health Authority. He has participated in many TV and radio programs related to health/nutrition. He sits on the Ministry of Health’s T&CM sub-committee responsible establishing training standards/criteria in traditional/complementary medical courses. He is member of the Technical Sub-committee at the Institute Medical Research evaluating complementary practices/products used in cancer therapies; and a member of the L.A.N’s (now MQA’s) Expert Panel for T&CM tertiary programmes.
Steve holds a master’s degree from The University of Durham, England; a professional diploma in clinical hypnotherapy & hypnoanalysis (UK); a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (UK) and of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (UK). He is board certified in Nutritional Wellness (American Naturopathic Certification Board), in Clinical Nutrition (American Naturopathic Medical Certification Boardx), and as Alternative Medical Practitioner (American Alternative Medical Association); as well as a member of the Complementary Medical Association (UK) and of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
Steve is chairman of the CTA Wellness & Longevity Group of organizations (www.ctawellness.com), which is a leading provider of complementary medical therapies as well as training/qualifying courses for the non-drug medical therapies in the Asia Region. The CTA training programmes are offered in collaboration with internationally-recognised universities/professional bodies in Malaysia, UK, Australia, and USA. He is the Project Coordinator for Australia’s only Bachelor’s in Complementary Medicine degree. He also facilitates on executive programmes in complementary medical therapies at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
In recognition of his contributions to various issues of concern to Society, he was awarded Darjah Indera Makota Pahang (DIMP) and Ahli Makota Selangor Yang Amat Mulia (AMS); a Fellow of the University of Durham Soc., a Senior Fellowship by the Institute of Business Executives Malaysia; as well as being included by The Contemporary Who’s Who of Professionals (ABI).
